Product Overview

Reinforced sway bar brackets for the NA/NB chassis by AWR Racing.

Made in the USA, laser cut and CNC folded, mig welded steel units. Powder coated black for a super durable finish. All units are provided with AWR's lifetime warranty. These redesigned sway bar brackets for the 1st gen Miata(NA) are now the same part for 2nd gen Miatas(NB). A slight revision in the bolting dimensions allows for the use of more aftermarket sway bar clamps. These brackets fit cars with and without power steering. Open ended reinforced sway bar brackets allow the option of putting power steering hoses through the bracket.

In racing and autocross use, especially when using larger sway bars and driving aggressively, the stock sway bar brackets can flex to the point of breaking. These reinforced brackets replace the stock ones to eliminate this problem.

These revised units will accept OEM sway bar clamps, Racing Beat aluminum sway bar clamps and Energy Suspension sway bar kits.

NOTE* Spot welds attaching the stock mounts to frame must be drilled out.

Items included:

  • Reinforced sway bar brackets by AWR Racing
  • hardware

The sway bar bracket hardware kit consists of the following items:
8 x 8mm x 1.25 x 16mm flange head bolt - used to mount the bracket to the frame rail from 1990 to 1997.

customer feedback:

"I installed the brackets on Sunday and got the car running on Monday. I cannot thank you enough for designing such a great product like this,
It seriously gave the lost driving characteristics back, no more unexpected oversteer, no more floating sway bar, no more mysterious clunks going over speed bumps. Thank you AWR  I will highly recommend these brackets to all the fellow Miata drivers that don't know about these yet or are contemplating buying and installing them. Definitely going on my next Miata regardless if the stock brackets are good still. Thanks AWR Racing keep up the amazing work."

Warranty Information

AWR believes so strongly in our engine mounts and sway bars that as of May, 2008 we are now backing them with a limited Lifetime Warranty. What’s more, this warranty, excluding bushings, is retroactive to all mounts built previously by AWR. Basically, if it breaks or fails, we’ll fix or replace it at our discretion. The warranty is ‘limited’ in that bushings are considered a normal wear item, so the urethane or rubber bushings are not covered, but if the metal cracks, breaks or otherwise fails, we’ll replace or repair it. As of now, there are no warranties, either expressed or implied for any other items.

    Excellent Upgrade

Posted by Jonathan Foster on 13th Mar 2023

Installation takes some time but it’s not bad. Spot weld remover, drill, dremel, touch up paint and the car is ready for the new mounts. I recommend a floor jack and a piece of 2x4 to push the mounts into place while using a rubber hammer to help persuade them. The fit is tight but that’s a good thing. I like that they are designed to have a ~1/4 inch gap between the mount and the frame rail. This should help reduce any chances of rust. The welds and construction are top notch. Exactly what I expect from AWR.

    Great product

Posted by Ruben on 9th Sep 2022

Bought three sets of these for 3 different miatas. They're great. A little snug to get on but once installed they're solid. Plus, the people at AWR are awesome and always helpful and friendly.

I own a 1997 Miata, the factory brackets are awful. These awr brackets are a great replacement. The install was straight forward, shipping was fast.

Not a Direct Fit, but Close

Posted by Gav on 9th Mar 2021

I had to notch the radiator supports and adjust the stock sway bar bushing stops (little metal clamps on the bar). Other than that, easy install. Double check the Gingium video where they sent these to him if you need a little guidance.
