Product Overview

MX5 NC complete engine mount kit for the 2.5 MX5 NC by AWR Racing. *New V2 design updates*

AWR Miata mounts are a must have for every enthusiast. There is no substitute for the quality, design, and benefits these mounts transfer to your vehicle.

AWR's new and improved NC engine mount kit is a direct bolt on replacement for your MX-5 chassis with a 2.5L motor. Fabricated steel replacement motor mounts provided with Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings that mount in the factory location giving more secure engine support. These mounts improve shifting and completely change the feel of the car keeping power sent to the wheels as it should be. Want less engine movement, cleaner shifts, as well as many more benefits? Look no further - AWR Racing has you covered!

These mounts help stop drive train lash (rocking) when transitioning from on and off the throttle. Help keep that engine stable inside the engine compartment, putting the power to the ground instead of rocking the engine and missing shifts. These mounts provide more direct throttle response and precise gear selections.

Design updates:

  • New welded inner barrel bushing support
    • If you plan on running a softer durometer in a high horsepower build for NVH concerns, we have designed a new barrel that prevents softer durometer bushings from sliding back and forth over time due to excessive heat and power.
  • Shorter profile mount
    • At AWR Racing, we released our initial NC engine mount concept when the chassis was released in 2006. Over the years, this platform has gained much more aftermarket support. A popular upgrade on these cars are aftermarket exhaust headers. Some of these headers are very beefy which result in less space on the passenger side of the engine where the mount bolts to. Aftermarket exhaust headers get very hot, which is not great being right next to a polyurethane bushing. After lot's of time exploring options in R&D and street/track testing, we are happy to release this shorter profile mount. Not only does this create more space, it also allows room to install a heat shield on the passenger side mount to prevent bushings from melting or deteriorating. This improves the longevity of our bushings - especially those who are running a softer durometer option.
  • Exterior bushing retainers
    • Bushing retainers are supplied with these engine mounts to help keep bushings in place. If you have a higher horsepower build but excessive NVH from harder bushings does not sound good to you, these retainers help allow high HP builds to run softer durometer options without worrying about bushings being replaced constantly after track and autocross sessions.
  • Heat shield - great addition for those running aftermarket exhaust headers
    • If you are running an aftermarket exhaust header, it is recommended to run a heat shield for bushing longevity to prevent the excessive heat from melting the polyurethane bushings - especially if you are running a 62 or 70 durometer bushing option in your engine mounts. If you are running a stock header, a heat shield is not necessary but can still be installed.

What durometer is best for you?

Since 1995, AWR Racing has been producing top-of-the-line Miata and MX-5 mounts. Our motor mounts utilize larger bushings to reduce NVH, specifically cabin vibration. Additionally, we've introduced our tried-and-tested 62 durometer Energy Suspension polyurethane option, perfect for daily and street use. If you're searching for stability with minimal NVH transfer, the 62 durometer is the ideal choice for you.

Here's a breakdown of our durometer options and their recommended usage:

  • 62 durometer (ultra soft) for daily driving with little to no modifications
  • 70 durometer (soft) for lightly to intermediate modification levels
  • 88 durometer (medium) for modified street and track builds
  • 95 durometer (hard) for highly modified/extreme builds

If your first option doesn't suit your needs, don't worry! All of our bushings can be swapped out or replaced. Keep in mind that initial NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) may be present but will settle after approximately 500 miles driven.

Application:

2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 MX5 NC 2.5L

Warranty Information

AWR believes so strongly in our engine mounts and sway bars that as of May, 2008 we are now backing them with a limited Lifetime Warranty. What’s more, this warranty, excluding bushings, is retroactive to all mounts built previously by AWR. Basically, if it breaks or fails, we’ll fix or replace it at our discretion. The warranty is ‘limited’ in that bushings are considered a normal wear item, so the urethane or rubber bushings are not covered, but if the metal cracks, breaks or otherwise fails, we’ll replace or repair it. As of now, there are no warranties, either expressed or implied for any other items.

    Great Product!

I was advised against this product by a very well-known distributor, based on the fact that the vibrations would have been unbearable for daily use. I was skeptical about this advice and rightly so, because I drove a friend’s car which had them and I didn’t find them any more annoying than any other race-spec modification you can do on a Miata NC, I actually didn’t know they were there and would have never guessed. I noticed the car had incredible sharp throttle response and my friend confessed the engine mounts were the reason for that  The throttle response becomes absolutely immediate, the clutch engagement is smooth and telepathic, vibrations are only noticeable at 2,500 rpm at the moment, but I expect them to improve after some appropriate break-in. The only downside is that I bought the 2.5L version expecting my 2.0L engine to be lower in the engine bay, but that didn’t happen. It falls exactly in the same place as with the stock engine mounts, measuring from a reference point. Other than this small issue (the only reason for the 4 stars review, otherwise it would have been 5 stars easily!), I totally recommend them!
