What durometer is best for you?

At AWR Racing, we have been making high performance Miata mounts since 1995. We have updated our Miata motor mounts to a larger bushing size which helps reduce NVH, specifically reduce cabin vibration. Alongside a bigger bushing design, we have launched our tested and proven 62 durometer Energy Suspension polyurethane option which is perfect for daily and street use. Are you looking for stability without much NVH transferred to your vehicle? 62 durometer is the perfect solution for you.

62 - 70 durometer is recommended for daily driving with little to no mods. 70 - 88 durometer is recommended for lightly to intermediate modification levels. 88 - 95 durometer is recommended for highly modified street and track builds. You can always opt for a different durometer if your first choice doesn't suit you needs, all of our bushings can be swapped out or replaced!

  • 62 durometer (ultra soft)
  • 70 durometer (soft)
  • 88 durometer (medium)
  • 95 durometer (hard)

Initial NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) will start to settle after about 500 miles driven.

Application:

Engine mount kit for the 1994-2000 NA/NB 1.8 Mazda Miata.

Warranty Information

AWR believes so strongly in our engine mounts and sway bars that as of May, 2008 we are now backing them with a limited Lifetime Warranty. What's more, this warranty, excluding bushings, is retroactive to all mounts and sway bars built previously by AWR. Basically, if it breaks or fails, we'll fix or replace it at our discretion. The warranty is 'limited' in that bushings are considered a normal wear item, so the urethane or rubber bushings are not covered, but if the metal cracks, breaks or otherwise fails, we'll replace or repair it.

    62 durometer mounts

Posted by Albert on 19th Nov 2024

First , Ali is awesome. Thank you for helping me get my project done on time. I went with the softest mounts and they still buzz the car but I'm sure they will break in and soften up. The connection with the car is a lot better. There's no more wandering if third gear is where I left it and that makes the difference for me.

    NA 60 Duro MOTOR MOUNTS

Posted by Malek Brown on 12th Sep 2024

Finally got the mounts installed this morning and omg it’s like night and day. The car feels so stable and the NVH is there but it’s not terrible! They still need to be broken in but there’s no doubt in my mind that they’ll be even more comfortable once that are. I absolutely love AWR I can’t wait to get the sway bar kit to really bring the car together!

    Install went good.

Posted by Andrew Durkee on 17th Jun 2023

Installation went great and they were easier to get in than the OEM ones. I'd only have two suggestions to make it even easier. The bolt holding the two parts together should be 1/4" or a 1/2 shorter. Trying to install or remove it the power steering lines are in the way, and it definitely looks like it can be shorter once assembled. The second would be to have tabs on the bolt side to hold the head for you. It's manageable but would be far easier if something held the bolt head for you on its corners. Two tabs is all it would need, then you just need one wrench.

In Love with My Miata Again

    Posted by @blood.n.oil on 7th Dec 2020

Just went for my first drive with the @awrracing 62 duro mounts and all I can say is "WOW!". I came from MS Comp mounts, which were OK for short time, but it wasn't long before the same old slop, crunchy and/or missed shifts came back. Everything just feels solid and the connection with the road is obvious. It's like the car is an extension of myself, which is the way the Miata experience should be. I can't tell any difference in NVH compared to the MS ones, so if you're worried about it, 62 is the perfect choice

    What NVH?

Posted by JL on 22nd Nov 2020

Replaced my 20+ year old OEM mounts with a set of these AWR ones. I drive a basically stock NA (intake+exhaust) and even at that power level these mounts made a massive difference. Throttle feels much more direct and both up/down-shifts are drastically smoother. When considering these I was worried it would make the car less comfortable due to NVH - we've all read the horror stories online. That was a big factor in me choosing the softest 62 duro. If you are worried about NVH - don't be - simple as that. The car honestly feels the exact same with the slightest increase in vibrations only at idle (mostly felt through the floor). If I were to do it again I think I actually would go with a harder duro! Thanks AWR for making such a great product!

    AWR Miata Motor Mount

Posted by James D. on 16th Dec 2019

Purchased the AWR motor mount for my 95 NA Miata track car. Ordered the 88 durometer based on advice from AWR and a friend who also has a set. Result: fantastic!!! Not as much noise/vibration as I feared (it's actually kinda cool) and I can feel the car's power and torque going right to the drivetrain, as opposed to flopping around. I can't say it was all the mounts doing, but I shaved 5 seconds off my BP lap time that very same weekend! Highly recommend! PS: I had a slight issue during installation but the team at AWR was VERY helpful in getting me what I needed to get the job done.
